On behalf of LoMo and the Friends of South Philadelphia High School (SPHS) Park, we would like to invite our members to contribute creative ideas for naming South Philly’s newest park! The suggestions of community members will be essential in shaping the permanent identity of this valuable South Philly space.
South Philadelphia High School Park encompasses the green space along South Broad Street between Snyder Avenue and Jackson Street and lies on the former site of the original high school that was built in 1907. After several years of advocacy from the Lower Moyamensing Civic Association and community partners, and support from SPHS and Councilmember Squilla, the School District of Philadelphia leased the land to the Philadelphia Department of Parks & Recreation to turn this once underutilized area into a great public space available for all to enjoy.
